Read the plain-English guide to what must appear on a wine label, then track the dated changes below.
Regulation (EU) 2026/471, adopted 24 February 2026, overhauls EU labelling for de-alcoholised, partially de-alcoholised and "alcohol-free" (≤0.5% vol) wine. The new labelling rules apply roughly 18 months after entry into force — around September 2027.
Since 8 December 2023, EU wine sold in the Union must carry a nutrition declaration and a full list of ingredients under Regulation (EU) 2021/2117. Energy value stays on the label; the rest may sit on a linked e-label. Allergens like sulphites remain on-pack.
